Riverkeeper to host Paddle, Music & Low Country Boil Benefit on May 4

(West Point, GA) — On Saturday, May 4, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) and the City of West Point will host the 4th Annual Chattahoochee Valley River Rally – a three-mile paddle trip and river celebration with live music and a low country/crawfish boil.

The Valley Rally will kick off at 5 p.m. (EST) with the launch of kayaks, canoes and paddle boards at Hardley Creek Park.

Once paddlers reach the Downtown River Park in West Point (730 1st Avenue), all from the community are welcome to join for FREE family-friendly festivities from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Along with a low country and crawfish boil for dinner ($10/plate), Blues, Country and Folk musical performances by the Front Porch Collective, Bernard Palmer and Horace Combs will fit right in with an easy evening beside the Chattahoochee River.

Partner organizations will be there with us, too, including: Oxbow Meadows, LaGrange Sierra Club, Newnan Paddlers and author Bill Deutsch.

All proceeds from the event will support CRK programs like the West Point Lake Floating Classroom and Neighborhood Water Watch. The paddle registration fee is $35 for adults and $25 for those under the age of 21. Registration includes pre-paddle shuttle service, dinner, two Sweetwater beers for adults and on-the-water support from staff and volunteers.

Only 150 paddle spots available! Register online at or in-person at Hardley Creek Park on May 4th between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Boats are not provided, please bring your own or reserve a rental from GLL Outdoors at their location in West Point (706-645-3584).

Whether you register for the paddle or not, the park is free and open to the public – bring lawn chairs, coolers (no glass bottles) and enjoy the evening!

Thank you to Interface, the presenting sponsor of the Valley Rally!

And many thanks to the rest of our event sponsors: West Point Development Authority, LaGrange-Troup Chamber of Commerce, Hutchinson Traylor, La Quinta by Wyndham LaGrange, Sweetwater Brewery, Homestyle Country Kitchen and GLL Outdoors.
