Several Braves slated to compete in GA Southwest Bowl

(Powder Springs, GA) — Brave head coach Tim Barron will trek to McEachern High School in Powder Springs, GA next Saturday to participate in the Georgia Southwest Bowl, one of four high school all-star games to take place that day.

Barron will be the head coach of the Titans’ squad featuring players from Carroll, Douglas, and Heard Counties.

Coach Shane Lassetter will be a defensive coach for the team as they take on the Saints, a squad comprised of players from the Coweta, Spalding, Fayette, and Pike County areas.

The game will kickoff at 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 17 and Heard County Brave seniors selected to compete in the game are DayVin Troy, Peyton Ehlers, Jonta Gray, Drew Hopkins, Trey Wiggins, and Mike Holmes. Senior Michael Cadwell is also a possible player for the game depending on the availability of a long snapper.

Logo SWThe game offers an excellent opportunity for the players to be see more action in front of some college scouts. These scouts will also attend several of the team practices which begin tomorrow and take place all next week.

Barron looks forward to being able to work with and observe coaches from other programs.

“It is neat to coach kids you don’t see everyday,” says Barron, “The best part will be the opportunity to pick the brains of other coaches — you can always pick up some new ideas for your program. It’s good professionally to be able to learn from others and vice versa. It’s also a great opportunity for these kids that have not verbally committed to a college program yet.”

This will be Barron’s second time coaching in the all-star game format. He also coached a team in 2006. In addition to the 12:30 PM kick-off for the Southwest Bowl, other all-star games will take place at 9:00 AM, 4:00 PM, and 7:30 PM.
