Gage Cannon (Senior — 145 pounds, 32-6)

Cannon this season surpassed his coach Kyle Yates for all time career wins with 124. At sectionals, he defeated Marty Bailey from Elbert County in the quarters Friday night before Bailey returned the favor knocking off Cannon in the third place match. Cannon’s semifinal loss came to undefeated sectional champion senior Gabriel Peryam (48-0) from Elbert County. He will take on sophomore Joe Wallace (38-22) from Model in the opening round Thursday morning.

Wyn Denney (Junior — 182 pounds, 28-10)

Denney had the strongest finish at sectionals defeating a sophomore from Social Circle and a one loss wrestler from Hephzibah High in the semifinals before falling on points 10-6 in Saturday’s sectional championship versus senior B.J. Bradford (46-1) from Elbert County who finished as state runner-up in 2018. Denney is making his second trip to the state meet and looking for his first medal after advancing as a freshman in 2017. Denney has earned a bye in Thursday morning’s first round and will face either Callaway junior Anthony Elliot (29-7) or Bacon County senior TJ Hamm (15-7) in Thursday afternoon’s quarterfinals.
