During the week the campers were exposed to various aspects of the Sheriff’s Office including, the jail, patrol, K-9 unit, investigations, narcotics, administration, government center operations, and much more.

The attendees also were given lessons on gun safety, boating and hunting safety by the Dept. of Natural Resources, a demonstration from the GBI, a visit from the Georgia State Patrol a tour of the LaGrange Police Department and the Troup County Fire Department.

Public Information Officer, Sgt. Stewart Smith, who facilitated the camp, believes it was a great success and that all the kids took home something new they had learned and that they enjoyed the field trips to Reds skating rink, the Water Wiz and Carmike Cinemas.

TCSOSAY camp is a summer program sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office and the Parks and Recreation.

“This camp would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the people on my staff who are committed to the youth of Troup County and to those from other agencies who gave of their time, said Sheriff Woodruff.

The Sheriff’s office would like to thank the following for helping us make this event successful: Walmart, 3 Creeks Entertainment, Chick fil A, and the Troup County Parks and Recreation.
