Tray Owens no-hits Tigers in five

(Temple, GA) — Junior Tray Owens pitched a gem Tuesday to lead the Braves to a fourth straight Region 5-AA win at Temple.

The Braves dominated the Tigers in every facet winning 14-0 in five innings and pounding out 14 team hits while taking advantage of five Temple errors.

The game one win sets the pace in a three game series that will conclude with a twin bill in Franklin this Friday.

Owens was sharp in winning his third game of the season allowing just a walk and hitting one batter in the complete game effort. He struck out three and threw just 61 pitches.

At the plate, five Braves finished with multiple hit efforts including Mason Rollings who belted his first Brave varsity homer — a solo shot in the top of the fourth. Mason raised his team leading batting average to .432 for the year.

The Braves managed to plate at least a run in all five innings with the majority of the damage coming via four runs in both the second and third innings.

Owens parked his team-high fifth long ball of the season in the fourth.

At the top of the lineup, Leroy Marsh continued to swing a hot bat with his third straight two hit game — raising his season average to .315.

Seniors Will Hammett and Tanner Collins each had two hits and Chance Brown doubled and drove home two. Caden Raines walked, doubled, and scored a run.

The Braves (7-10, 4-6) will face off with Glenwood Academy in a home affair Wednesday at Alford Field (5:30 PM) prior to Friday’s home doubleheader series finale with the Tigers at 4:30 PM Friday.

Next week the squad gets a break from region play with spring break week non-region match-ups at Brookstone Tuesday (4:30 PM) and at Calvary Christian Saturday at, April 6 (4:30 PM).
