Two arrested in case of abandoned, burned vehicle

(Franklin, GA) — An investigation into a burned out, abandoned vehicle located in Heard County in September has led to the recent arrest of two people from Carroll County.

According to a report by Heard County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Mark Eakin, deputies originally responded to the report of an abandoned Ford F-150 Truck just off of Caney Head Road on September 22. The vehicle was completely burned out.

After further investigation, the owner of the truck has been arrested.

41-year-old Timothy Douglas Smith of Carroll County was arrested on Monday, November 18 and charged with Arson and Insurance Fraud.

A 29-year-old female, Ashleigh Nichole Pike of Carroll County was also arrested and is charged with being party to the crimes.

HCSO investigators are still searching for one more individual involved who has active warrants regarding this Arson case.

Investigators urge the public to be aware that any crime of Arson will lead to a very thorough investigation, which could lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Smith and Pike are being held at the Heard County Sheriff’s Office awaiting further court proceedings.
