(Franklin, GA) — The staff at Hardee’s on Franklin Parkway and the James Stewart Chapter, NSDAR, came together on Saturday, May 18th, to recognize and thank our active military and our veterans during National Military Appreciation Month.

Chapter members spent their morning greeting veterans with breakfast, a smile, a “thank you” and a gift of appreciation for their service to our great country.

This is the second annual event for these men and women and could only be accomplished with the support of our local Hardees.

The month of May is a special month for those both in and out of the military. Not only do we pause on Memorial Day to remember the sacrifice and service of those who gave all, but the month also holds several other military anniversaries and events including Armed Forces Day and Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the chance to publicly show their appreciation for troops past and present.

Each year the President makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our great country.

The DAR is a one of the oldest service organizations in our country.

Members must be 18 years or older and of direct lineal descent of a patriot from the American Revolution.

Honoring our local veterans, our wonderful students and members of the Heard County community are just a few of our many activities throughout the year.

Please contact the chapter at (770) 856-3354 to speak to a chapter representative. Chapter members are ready to help you find your patriot.
