Willie Nelson coming to Lagrange

(Lagrange, GA) — The inaugural summer concert series at Sweetland Amphitheatre will bring an impressive lineup of music legends – including Willie Nelson, The Temptations and The Charlie Daniels Band – to the newly completed venue in LaGrange’s Boyd Park.

The 2016 Summer Concert Series, presented by Bud Light, runs from April to September and features six concerts and a variety of musical genres.

Performances kick off April 16 with five decades of music from Atlanta bands Band-X and Members Only. Band-X is considered one of the premier party bands in Atlanta providing interactive live entertainment via adrenaline-charged shows. Members Only brings a high energy and accurate recreation of your favorite 80’s hits.

The Grand Opening for Sweetland takes place on Sunday, May 29, with country music legend, Willie Nelson and Family. With a six-decade career and 200 plus albums, this iconic Texan is the creative genius behind the historic recordings of Crazy, Red Headed Stranger and Stardust. Nelson has earned every conceivable award as a musician and amassed notable credentials as an author, actor and activist.

Opening for Willie Nelson and Family are two extraordinary artists: Cam and American Aquarium. A veteran touring band from Raleigh, NC American Aquarium’s cool sound is a hybrid of country and rock infused with biographical lyrics about last calls, lost love and long horizons.

California-born singer and songwriter, Cam, emerged as one of 2015’s true breakthrough artists. Her first Platinum record and first #1 country single, “Burning House,” earned a GRAMMY® Award nomination for Best Country Solo Performance.

With more than 50 years of propelling popular music with smash hits, Motown’s legendary The Temptations will heat up the summer on June 17. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temptations are celebrated for their smooth stepping and flawless presentations that became a staple of American style.

With their own modern soulful and deep funk style, Atlanta’s own Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics open for The Temptations, delivering a powerful 1-2 punch for concertgoers.

As a nod to Sweetland’s patriotic heritage, an All-American July 3rd concert featuring The Charlie Daniels Band and an opener that will be announced soon is slated for the holiday weekend.

August and September’s acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We couldn’t be more excited and proud of the diverse line up we have assembled for our inaugural 2016 Summer Concert Series,” said Sweetland Director Becca Eiland.

“Sweetland is a first-class venue that provides patrons an intimate, outdoor setting that is second-to-none and we look forward to hosting visitors from around the region and encourage them to come early or stay late to enjoy all LaGrange has to offer including our historic downtown, located just blocks from Sweetland.”

Season tickets for this outstanding Summer Concert Series will go on sale in mid-March, followed by single ticket sales in early April.

Congrads. seems someone has taped into the great entertainment available, created a place, not big enough yet, that ‘LA’ Lower Alabama has played with for years but has been unable to take advantage of their facilities and the opportunities. Go Georgia your on my mind.
