(Douglasville, GA) — A strong outing from senior starting pitcher Auston Wilson propelled the Braves to a 3-2 road win at Chapel Hill Thursday afternoon.

Wilson pitched into the seventh inning allowing just two earned runs and no walks while striking out six.

Junior A.J. Head faced four hitters and recorded the final two outs with the bases loaded to earn his second save of the season.

The Braves would notch a run in the top of the first and two in the fourth to jump out to a 3-0 lead and would then hold off the Panthers who scored one in the fifth and another in the bottom of the seventh.

Leading the way offensively for the Braves was senior Logan Ward who went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored.

Seniors Ethan Brant and Trey Alford each added RBI’s as well.

It was a nice win for the team after a tough one run loss to Handley Tuesday afternoon.

Coach Trent Bianco’s squad moves to 6-4 on the season and 4-2 in games decided by two runs or less.

“We played well tonight and that was a good bounceback win for us,” said Bianco after the game.  “Auston Wilson was just outstanding on the hill tonight and A.J. did a good job for us again to close the door at the end. We always feel good getting a win against a bigger AAAA school like Chapel Hill.”

They will travel to Columbus on Saturday to meet the Pacelli Vikings in a noon doubleheader.
